All about Me (and Fred)

Hiya!
I'm Megan - an Aussie Mum living in Parker, Colorado, USA. Together the Husband and I have 2 darlings - the Girl/Princess/Daughter is 18 and currently taking a year off before Uni. The Boy/Little Man/Big Boy is 11, in 6th grade and just our typical smelly, noisy, fun-loving 11 year old. We've been here 8 years now, with another 18 months to see out our 10 year commitment to the Husband's job. no idea yet what the future holds - but I'll let you know when I do!
Newly diagnosed with a Desmoid Tumor on the back of my right thigh, and newly converted to the cult of running.
My tumor is called Fred, and just like most of you I had no idea what a Desmoid Tumor is. Actually - to be perfectly honest, I'm still not all that convinced that I know what it is!
It's not cancer. So that's a bonus! But the downside is that it keeps coming back, usually in the same spot. And he's an aggressive little bugger!
Fred is currently taking up residence on one of my hamstring muscles (new things learnt - you have 4 on each leg! Had no idea...) and towards the top he has wound himself around 2. So - dreams of getting better and faster at running are slowly slipping away!
I'll keep running until I can't any longer. I call myself an Accidental Runner - I never meant to become a runner. I just thought that I would do the "Couch to 5k" program, run a 5k fun run to cross it off my bucket list and call it good, proving to all of the crazy running friends of mine that I was not built for running!
Ha! Needless to say - I fell in love with running. The husband (Piet) may have too. Not for him - but for me!! I am so much happier when I run. Trust me - we all need me to be able to get out there and sweat it all out!
This whole Desmoid adventure is just unfolding. Treatment isn't certain right now, but looks to be settled by the end of next week.
Oh - I am also addicted to doing my nails - so don't be surprised at NOTD (nails of the day) showing up every now and then!
So sit back and let me whinge at you a bit as I learn to run with this Fred on my leg!
